Journal Article 2011 10 31 The Arabic word <em>ibtila</em> has two meanings. In its first sense, it refers to affliction and infliction. <em>Ibtila</em> can be affliction of hardship or being blessed with blessings, which are the inseparable parts of the universal system. The happenings in man’s life have profound meanings. The significance of <em>ibtila</em> is that it sublimates man’s status, causing his spiritual sublimation in the direction that he is capable of accomplishing. The ecstasy of the world is shortcoming; the world is not capable of being a place for reward and punishment. It is only an educational home for raising man in order to attain a superior goal in the sublime world. <em>Ibtila</em> in its second sense means test and awareness. Awareness refers to becoming conscious of creation of man and the world as well as a semantic approach to all possessions and non-possessions, joys, hardships and other happenings. Hence afflictions and tests are always a means for perfection and spiritual sublimation. Attempts have been made in the present paper to rely on the Quranic verses, traditions and remarks of thinkers to explain Imam Khomeini’s viewpoints about affliction and test. <strong><em>:</em></strong><em> ابتلا به معنای «گرفتار و دچار شدن» و «امتحان» و «اختبار» است. ابتلا در معنای گرفتار و دچارشدن، به صورت نعمات یا نقمات ظاهر می‌شود و جزء لاینفک نظام عالم است. پیشامدهایی که در زندگی بشر اتفاق می‌افتد دربردارندة معنایی ژرف است. اهمیت ابتلا به این است که شأن آدمی را تعالی می‌بخشد و سبب تکامل روحی او در جهتی می‌شود که قابلیت رسیدن به آن را دارد. نشئه دنیا دار نقصان است و قابلیت این را ندارد که دار ثواب و عقاب باشد. دنیا فقط دارالتربیتی برای تربیت بشر، جهت وصول به غایتی برتر در عوالم برتر است. </em> <em>ابتلا در معنای «آزمون» و «اختبار» به معنای آگاهی و باخبر شدن نسبت به آفرینش انسان و جهان و نگاه معنانگرانه نسبت به تمام داشته‌ها و نداشته‌ها، خوشی‌ها و ناملایمات و دیگر پیشامدها است. به این لحاظ بجا خواهد بود اگر همواره بر این تأکید شود که ابتلائات عامل مهمی در جهت تکامل و ارتقای معنوی و روحانی بشر هستند. نویسندگان این مقاله تلاش نموده‌اند با محور قراردادن سخنان امام در باب ابتلا از آیات و روایات و همین‌طور سخنان دیگر بزرگان برای فهم بهتر سخنان امام استفاده نمایند.</em> https://matin.ri-khomeini.ac.ir/article_61916_dbf594efeb99abf7e4cfcadb6518730e.pdf
