In this article, on the one hand, while examining different views about "modernization" and on the other hand, while typifying different attitudes towards Shi'ism in Iran, Visandeh believes that it is impossible to speak absolutely about the homogeneity or heterogeneity of religion and modernization; Rather, it should be investigated which religious view has more or less homogeneity with which definition of modernizationFor this purpose, in this research, as a special case study, the degree of homogeneity and heterogeneity of Imam Khomeini's (pbuh) view on the Shia religion has been investigated in relation to the theories of modernization. The hypothesis of this research is that the jurisprudential and principled attitude of Imam Khomeini (pbuh) towards the Shia religion has many similarities and affinities with new ideas in the field of modernization. In order to prove this hypothesis, the author has investigated the theoretical and practical positions of Imam Khomeini (PBUH) in two periods before and after the Islamic Revolution and has examined his positions in the face of the second Pahlavi modernization program as well as the modernization program after the revolution.
