Abstract
Political islam as one of the important political currents had important impact upon the world particulary upon the Islamic countries. This article is an attempt to explore the backgrounds of the origination of the concept of political Islam as a conceptual category with reference to the views of three thinkers in this field. It does not mean that they share the same views. The author of the article tries to depict the preliminary backgrounds that paved the way for the advent of the theoretical and practical possibility of political Islam
